Alyssa and Forrest Hickey: Home Quest Begins and Ends at Arkansas Federal

Aspiring homeowners Alyssa and Forrest Hickey of Little Rock knew where they would begin their mortgage quest. When they decided the time was right, their first and only stop was Arkansas Federal Credit Union.

Members for two years, the Hickeys were pleased with their banking experiences at the credit union and confident that Arkansas Federal was the right choice for their home loan. Plus, some not-so-good experiences with “big banks” – institutions impersonal and seeming to value profit over people — left the couple a little wary of the home-buying process.

Fortunately for the Hickeys, Loan Originator Tery Young of Arkansas Federal’s west Little Rock branch has eased many members through the process. Getting started was even easier than Alyssa hoped it could be.

“When we were ready, it was easy to navigate the website and find the contact information for Tery, and even easier to give her a call,” Alyssa said.“She answered right away and spoke to us in detail about what we would need to do to prepare for the process. She made the whole experience simple and pain-free.”

Alyssa said she and her husband never worried that Arkansas Federal wouldn’t meet a deadline. “If anything, they encouraged us to get our act together,” she said. “There were times that we probably would have fallen behind schedule if Tery hadn’t given us a friendly phone call to remind us to proceed to the next step.”

For the Hickeys, the entire process was easy and stress-free.

“As anxious, soon-to-be homeowners, we had asked Tery a bunch of questions on a Friday night regarding our loan process,” Alyssa said. “We didn’t expect to hear back from her until the following Monday at the earliest, but she emailed us back that night. Having a response so quickly truly put us at ease for the whole weekend.”

Tery said the Hickeys came into the process having done their research and armed with questions. “It was my job to help answer all of their questions and put them at ease to ensure that they made a great financial decision,” she said.

Alyssa said Arkansas Federal understands how stressful buying a home can be. Because Tery and her co-workers navigated them through the process, the Hickeys never wavered in their confidence that the deal would be done.
